BRIAN WATT | Licensed Massage Therapist
Brian is a native of Arizona where he attended school in Mesa graduating from Westwood High School. He then attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff where after four years he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcasting and a minor in Business. Following his academic endeavors Brian found himself in his first career within the call center industry. In his 10 years he held positions as Call Center Representative, Floor Supervisor, Call Center Manager, Account Manager, Director of Operations & Client Services and Co-Owner.
In 2004 Brian decided it was time to search for a new path and enrolled in massage therapy school at Rainstar University in Scottsdale, AZ. Within 18 months Brian had earned a 1500 hour Associates of Applied Science degree in Massage Therapy as well as passed the National Certification Board to obtain his Arizona State Massage License. Brian’s primary education includes courses in: Anatomy & Physiology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Tui Na (Chinese Acupressure), Shiatsu (Japanese Acupressure) and Injury Assessment & Treatment. In order to remain licensed Brian has also fulfilled continued education requirements with certifications in: Reflexology, Pregnancy & Infant Massage, Tibetan Massage, Thai Massage, Guided Meditation, Introduction to Oncology Massage and Myofascial Release Techniques for the lower extremities. He has also completed Career Hearted, an energetic training on the elements of building a successful business.
Brian has worked in both the chiropractic and spa environments during his massage career, but always had the vision of building his own business. After marrying his wife Sandy in March of 2006, they decided to take the next step of true entrepreneurship and set Nirvana Bodyworks to sail.
Nirvana Bodyworks has been located in the same Tempe office since 2007, but continues to provide onsite massage to people in their homes as well as chair massage to corporations. Brian has also been teaching massage therapy at Cortiva Institute in Scottsdale, AZ since 2007, where he enjoys teaching the new students the basics of massage therapy and how to do a full body Swedish massage. With his knowledge of massage and passion for teaching he has created a series of classes available to the public instructing on how to give a good massage at home.
